Where We Live
One of America’s most popular tourist attractions and the world’s largest sculpture, Mount Rushmore is surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest, Badlands National Park, and other scenic attractions that offer extraordinary outdoor adventures such as hiking, trout fishing, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
Our guests and employees come from across the country and around the world, which makes working at Mount Rushmore a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with, and learn about, a variety of cultures. Our employees make countless personal connections and create everlasting memories for themselves and our guests.
Mount Rushmore is a community living environment. Community living can be a great way to bond and create lifelong friendships with others who share similar interests and values, however, it does come with some challenges. Being prepared will help with your transition.
The dormitory style residence offers housing for more than 120 employees and is furnished with beds, secretary desks, private bath/shower and secure closets. A family style common room contains a TV, books, games, and a computer. There is an on-site fitness room available for use, in additional to Wi-Fi and coin operated laundry facilities.
Dormitory buildings do not have cooking facilities. You must be 18 years of age or older to live in company housing and must be actively employed by Xanterra. Pets, candles and smoking are not permitted in company housing.
Employee housing is available for couples when both are employed by Xanterra. Please include your spouse’s/significant other’s name on your application if you are applying together. We also have RV sites with water, sewer and electricity hookups for those who wish to live in their own RV or trailer. Children and pets are welcome in our RV Park. Visit our website for more details.
In addition to these amenities, a shuttle operates during peak season to transport employees to work or meals.
The Employee Dining Room (EDR) serves cafeteria-style meals that include a hot entrée and side dishes, sandwiches, salads, fruits, cereals and beverages. Vegetarian options are available at each meal, however, the EDR chef and crew are not able to accommodate all dietary needs such as vegan or allergy-related restrictions.
