Mount Rushmore is located in Western South Dakota, 23 miles South West of Rapid City on Highway 16.
By Automobile
- The most direct route is via Interstate - 90.
- Exit on exit 57 to Highway 16 (also called Mount Rushmore Road) which goes directly to Keystone.
- From Keystone take Highway 244 to the Mount Rushmore Memorial entrance.
Note: Visitors coming from the South should take Highway 385 North through Hot Springs and Custer to Highway 244, which is the road leading to Mount Rushmore.
By Plane
- Rapid City Regional Airport: 35 miles to the memorial from Rapid City Regional Airport.
