Annual Independence Day Celebration
July 3, 2008
Fireworks to begin at 9:20 p.m.
Our annual Independence Day Celebration is an exciting event. Activities are scheduled throughout the entire day including, educational programs for all ages and entertainment, live music from area bands and presidential re-enactors. The park opens at 7 a.m., but the parking area can often fill up by 10:00 a.m. If you arrive later in the day, be prepared to park one to three miles from the park entrance and hike in.
We recommend bringing sunscreen, water and snacks; you are also welcome to pack blankets, lawn chairs, umbrellas and coolers (subject to search). Please be prepared for large crowds, possible inclement weather and increased security. It will be dark when the fireworks are finished. We suggest walking shoes and a flashlight so that you may return to your car safely. No personal fireworks or pets are allowed. The Carver's Café will be also open for your dining convenience.
Sturgis Bike Week
August 4th - 10th, 2008
The area around Mount Rushmore National Memorial offers some of the best riding roads in South Dakota. Add a visit to Mount Rushmore National Memorial to your bike week agenda.
During bike week Brulé & AIRO will be performing on the Xanterra Parks & Resorts stage in front of Carvers Café at Mount Rushmore National Memorial from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The performance is free of charge with the exception of parking to enter the memorial. In 2007, they were voted NAMA Multi Award Winners "Group of the Year" and "Best New Age Recording."
